The 29th EAAP Webinar titled Advances in Animal Epigenetics: Driving Research and Breeding

The 29th EAAP Webinar titled Advances in Animal Epigenetics: Driving Research and Breeding Forward is organised in collaboration with Illumina. At the forefront of the genomics revolution for decades, Illumina develops innovative sequencing and array-based life science technologies that enable animal researchers and breeders to improve livestock health and productivity.
BOSSENNEC Jean-Marie / INRAE

In conjunction with Geof Dahl's Jean d'Alembert Chair and the visit of visiting professor Pete Hansen, we have organized a two-week doctoral course on heat stress with colleagues from INRAE, AgroParisTech and the Graduate School Biosphera at the Université Paris-Saclay. The first week will focus on heat stress concepts and effects in agriculture, including plants. The second week will focus on heat stress in ruminants.

SAPS @ E. Barrey

The SAPS Masters 2 students' day (or end-of-study engineering project) went very well, in good spirits at the Fragonard amphitheater, on the site of the Ecole Vétérinaire d'Alfort, on May 21, 2025.

@INRAE M-P. Sanchez

In the early 2000s, advances in DNA analysis technology propelled bovine genetics into the genomics era. This made it possible to identify the many genetic variants present in the genomes of different cattle breeds. However, it is still difficult to understand precisely how these variations influence key agronomic traits such as milk production, health and fertility. To decipher these mechanisms, researchers from INRAE's Animal Genetics department have developed an innovative approach combining quantitative genetics, functional genomics and artificial intelligence. Their results, published in the journal Nature Communications, pave the way for more effective selection tools, in favor of sustainable and resilient breeding.

OUR AIMS

Graphique SAPS 2023

. Develop new scientific knowledge in biology and animal health
. Promote interactions between research on farm animals or animal models and research into animal and human health
. Strengthen links between research into animal health and human health (One Health, zoonoses, environmental effects)
. Develop predictive approaches and "data science" in the field of biology and animal health
. Promote high-performance, environmentally-friendly breeding systems
. Contribute to science-society dialogue and meet the diverse expectations of citizens.
